Barney M. Davis, Jr., M.D.

Barney Davis is a psychiatrist, who along with his wife, Karen Davis,
R.N., served as founding members of the Godspeed team, providing
medical and counseling consultations on the field for many workers in
many locations. A graduate of Texas-based undergraduate, medical, and
postgraduate institutions, he practiced general psychiatry in Texas and
Maryland before taking on the directorship of Godspeed from 1998
through 2009.
Currently, Barney serves as CEO of Godspeed Services.
Becky Magnuson, O.D., M.P.H., M.A., Executive Director

Becky Magnuson

Becky Magnuson was appointed Executive Director of Godspeed in
March 2009. She brings a variety of relevant experience to her
various roles in this position. Becky began her professional
career as a practicing optometrist, followed by a decade of
tenure in the pharmaceutical industry, which she concluded in
a position as a clinical research manager. She then studied
International Health and Development and served in this capacity
in South Asia for several years.
Becky returned to the US in 2005 to study Pastoral Counseling
and Spiritual Formation at Columbia International University
(CIU). Becky and her husband David were married in 2008.
David is presently director of maintenance at CIU and also has a
number of years of international work experience. Becky currently
counsels intercultural workers at the Godspeed offices in Columbia, as
well as overseeing administration of the organization as a whole.
Carey Hargis, Office Manager

Carey Hargis

Carey Hargis has been the office manager for Godspeed since July
2008. With a Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal Communication, she
has an interest in the "hows" and "means" of human communication
and a desire to encourage others. Carey also has a wide range of
administrative capabilities and a flexibility that is essential in
the daily running of the Godspeed office.

Erik is a counselor by profession, yet he prefers to be recognized as a
joyous husband of one and loving father of three. He has called Asia his
second home for over a decade and is currently living in Thailand
focusing on providing care and counsel for workers in that region of
the world.
Having spent a number of years on the field, both in village and city,
Erik has become intimately aware of both the blessings and challenges
that face kingdom workers. Now as a licensed
professional counselor, he provides care, support and encouragement to
those taking the Light of the world into the dark places.

Willie and Caren Van Der Merwe

Willie and Caren Van Der Merwe joined the Godspeed team in 2009. They
grew up in South Africa where Willie finished his graduate studies in
Theology and Clinical Psychology in 1984. They worked for a number of
years in Southern Africa in industry and private practices as a
clinical psychologist/management consultant (Willie) and physical
therapist (Caren). Since 1996, the Van Der Merwes have been serving as
intercultural workers in various capacities in Europe. In 2011, they
transitioned to Swakopmund Namibia Africa where they now offer membercare
services to those serving in that area of the world.
Ruco their oldest son, his wife Kristi and their youngest son Hugo are
studying in the USA.

Bob and Sandy join Godspeed following over 32 years in the field of
Residential Construction for Bob and over 32 years for Sandy as an
administrative assistant in the fields of education, legal services and
residential construction.
More importantly, during their 30 years of marriage, Bob and Sandy have
grown in God's grace, in their love for God's word, and in the enjoyment
of serving others. Across 3 decades, Bob and Sandy have developed a
heart for membercare and a desire to serve those called to go into all
the world.
With this desire, Bob and Sandy hope to carry the vision of
Shepherd's Rest through the actual
construction process, and into serving as the initial host couple. They
hope that you also will join with Godspeed in making Shepherds Rest a
soon available reality for the help and refreshment of intercultural
workers.
